Sewer and Drainage

There are quite a number of reasons that can lead to needing maintenance on a sewer and or draining system. Here are a few below:

1. Grade of the Earth can shift.
Especially here in California, the grade of earth that the pipe is on can shift and become flat or even negative grade. There's definitely one thing we've learned plumbing all these years, and that's that sewage does not roll uphill.

2. Old Age.
As we've mentioned in our other articles, old age is the unrelenting enemy to all of your plumbing systems. Consider the age of your home and if your pipes could be 50 years or older, it's likely time to give us a call and have an inspection.

3. Backup in plumbing.
If you find sewage collecting in places it shouldn't, it's time to inspect your sewer lines for any clogs. In newer pipes it's far more likely that you simply need to have us run a Sewer Camera and Hydro Jetter.

4. Concerning Tree Root Systems.
Roots are a leading cause of sewage pipe damage. If your home houses any larger trees it is wise to inspect your sewer system with our Sewer Camera for any damage. Even if your home does not have large trees on the property, neighbors might and we've seen root systems make their way quite a large distance into neighboring sewer systems. We recommend inspecting your sewer system if you have any reason to suspect damage or clogage.

5. Noticing any strange noises.
Be sure to take notice of any out of the ordinary noises. Pay attention to the drains especially for gurgling or bubbling noises. This is usually a clear indication of something going wrong in your sewer system.
